NCD STRENTHENS TIES WITH PARLIAMENT

The National Commission for Democracy (NCD) was on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 hosted by the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Political and Presidential Affairs in Committee Room 3 of the House of Parliament on Tower Hill. The meeting which was well attended on both sides was the culmination of a process that commenced with NCD presenting a status report for 2013 and supporting policy documents as requested by the Committee headed by Hon. Patrick Lahai M. Kargbo. The meeting that commenced at 1: 20 pm saw the introduction of Members of the Committee and the Chairman, Commissioners and Staff of NCD followed by silent prayers and the articulation of the purpose of the meeting as an attempt to strengthen ties between the Parliament and NCD.

The Western Region of the National Commission for Democracy NCD has held a Civic Education stakeholders’ meeting at the Commission’s Headquarters on Thursday 12 June, 2014 where they exhaustively deliberated on the strategies to be adopted for a successful implementation of the project of reintroducing civic education in the school curriculum in a bid to inculcate the values of civics into the heart and minds of pupils.

NCD HOLDS A DAY’S WORKSHOP FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS IN THE WESTERN REGION

The Western Region of the National Commission for Democracy NCD has organized a day’s workshop on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Presidential Lounge of the National Stadium to enhance the capacity of state actors drawn from various Ministries, Department and Agencies and State Security Institutions on the principles of democratic good governance on the theme” Transparency, Accountability and Service Delivery in Sierra Leone” with a clear focus of examining and discussing the extent to which these key governance institutions have been able to adhere to the Principles of Democratic Governance.

UNIPSIL DONATES ASSETS TO NCD

VEHICLE DONATED TO NCD

The United Nations Integrated Peace Building Office in Sierra Leone UNIPSIL has donated assets to the National Commission for Democracy (NCD), one of its key partners working in close collaboration with the UN to enhance its capacity in pursuing its mandate of enlightening the public about the need to embrace peace, development and democracy in the country.

NCD SOUTH TRAINS COUNCIL STAFF

The National Commission for Democracy NCD Southern Region has completed a day’s training for councilors and ward committee members on their roles in the promotion of good governance at the local level in connection with the Commission’s Performance Contract at the Bo District Council Hall.

The Chairman, National Commission for Democracy, Dr. Abubakar H Kargbo reiterated the need for councilors to be further capacitated so that they will have the requisite skills to carry out their functions adequately in promoting good governance at the local level.
