NCD TO SIGN MOU WITH ACC

In a bid to effectively promote democratic good governance through the fight against corruption, the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) has paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of the nation’s anti-graft agency, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) at their 3 Gloucester Street office in Freetown on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. During a confab held in the Conference Room, the need for a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two Commissions formed part of the deliberations.

NCD LAUNCHES AN ABRIDGED VERSION OF THE 1991 CONSTITUTION OF SIERRA LEONE

The National Commission for Democracy NCD in collaboration with ActionAid International in Sierra Leone has launched an abridged and simplified version of the 1991 constitution including a brailed version for the visually impaired to make every Sierra Leonean who can read the English Language easily understand the content of the constitution so that they can actively be part of the process of reviewing the 1991 constitution which is underway.

NCD HOLDS A THREE DAY RETREAT IN MAKENI

The National Commission for democracy NCD has commenced a three day retreat to assess the challenges of the Commission and to also deliberate on its activities and plan for the coming year at the Makambo Village Resort in Makeni. The event which has been introduced for the first time by the Commission assembled all staff members of the Commission from all the four regions in one place to have an in-depth and thorough look into the activities of NCD.

NCD MEETS WITH THE GHANA HIGH COMMISSIONER

A high powered delegation from the National Commission for Democracy NCD has paid a courtesy on Her Excellency the Ghana High Commissioner to seek her support in facilitating the process of connecting the Commission with her sister organizations in Ghana in order to share ideas on issues relating to the promotion of democratic good governance.

NCD HOSTS UNIPSIL

The National Commission for Democracy on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 3 pm played host to a delegation from UNIPSIL that seeks to familiarize itself with the upcoming constitutional review process. The Chairman of the Commission, a member of the constitutional review committee, elaborated on the need for a review of the 1991 Constitution. Responding to questions from the delegation, Dr. Kargbo noted that Sierra Leone inherited the Westminster model of democracy from their colonial masters, a model that was imposed on primordial people who were not literate.
